Iran's deputy FM meets with Afghan pres., senior officials

TEHRAN, Jun. 08 (MNA) – Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Oceania Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour held talks in Kabul with Afghan senior officials.

Rahimpour, who is in Afghanistan to attend the Kabul Process Conference, met Wednesday with President Ashraf Ghani and condemned the recent terrorist and extremist attacks in Kabul and extended condolences to the government and nation of Afghanistan as well as bereaved families of the victims.

The two sides underlined the need for broadening of bilateral relations and explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating cooperation during the meeting in Afghanistan's capital today.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of Kabul Process for Peace and Security Cooperation, in which representatives of 25 countries, the UN, the EU and NATO take part to reach a consensus on combating terrorism and establishing peace in Afghanistan.

Rahimpour also met with Afghan Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah and Mohammad Hanif Atmar, National Security Advisor to President Ashraf Ghani and examined security issues and neighborly relations between the two countries.
